Designing connected health systems around care

Healthcare technology succeeds when it supports safer, more coordinated care and gives professionals timely information without becoming another burden in the clinical day.
01

Begin with the care pathway

Patient registration, consultation, diagnostics, pharmacy, billing and follow-up are parts of one experience. Designing them independently creates missing context, repeated entry and avoidable delays.

A pathway view helps teams decide what information must follow the patient and when it should become available.

02

Balance access with protection

Health information must be available to authorised professionals at the point of need while remaining protected from inappropriate access. Role-based permissions, audit trails, consent-aware processes and resilient infrastructure are central design requirements.

  • Longitudinal patient records
  • Clinical and operational interoperability
  • Role-based access and auditability
  • Continuity during connectivity disruptions
03

Measure care and operational outcomes

System performance should be evaluated through real service outcomes: waiting time, follow-up completion, medicine availability, reporting quality and the administrative time returned to care teams.
